Morgan City Recreation Youth Baseball League
The Morgan City Recreation Youth Baseball League is sanctioned by Dixie Youth Baseball, a nationally recognized youth baseball organization. This sanctioning ensures the league follows established rules, age divisions, and standards of play, and it allows eligible All-Star teams to participate in official Dixie Youth tournaments.

The Morgan City Dixie Youth Baseball League provides a positive, structured, and fun environment for young players to learn and enjoy the game of baseball.
The program is designed to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, cooperation, discipline, and fair play while offering children a wholesome recreational outlet. Players develop fundamental skills appropriate to their age level while building confidence and respect for teammates, coaches, opponents, and the game itself.
Registration & Fees
Each participant in all baseball leagues is required to pay a registration fee as follows:
$45.00 per child
Second child: $35.00
Third child: $20.00
Family maximum: $100.00 for three or more participants in a baseball league or combination of baseball leagues
No child will be denied participation due to financial hardship. Parents or guardians experiencing financial difficulties must notify the Recreation Department. A meeting will be held with the Youth Baseball Board to determine appropriate payment arrangements.
Parent or Guardian Requirements
Parents or guardians are responsible for the following requirements:
Providing a copy of the child’s birth certificate
Ensuring the child is physically able to participate prior to enrollment
If a uniform is issued, it must be returned by the date specified by the coach. Failure to return the uniform will result in the child being ineligible to participate in any Morgan City Recreation Department team sport until the uniform is returned. The cost of replacing lost or unreturned uniforms will be billed to the parents or guardians.
League Divisions & Age Eligibility
Age eligibility is determined by the child’s age on or before May 1 of the current year.
T-Ball League (Ages 5–6)
Youth who are or will be five (5) years old before May 1.
Minor League (Ages 7–8)
Youth who are or will be seven (7) years old before May 1.
City League (Ages 9–10)
Youth who are or will be nine (9) years old before May 1.
Dixie League (Ages 11–12)
Youth who are or will be eleven (11) years old before May 1.
Sanctioning & All-Star Play
The Morgan City Recreation Youth Baseball League is sanctioned by Dixie Youth Baseball, a nationally recognized youth baseball organization. This sanctioning ensures the league follows established rules, age divisions, and standards of play.
Through this affiliation, eligible All-Star teams may participate in official Dixie Youth tournaments, allowing players the opportunity to represent Morgan City at the district, state, and regional levels.
Parent & Spectator Expectations
Parents and spectators play a vital role in supporting the goals of the program and are expected to adhere to the following guidelines.
Unsportsmanlike or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated at any time. The Youth Baseball Committee administers all league functions, and any concerns must be addressed directly to the Committee. Disruptive or subversive behavior will not be tolerated.
Derogatory or abusive language or actions toward league supervisors, umpires, or coaches are strictly prohibited. Fan enthusiasm is encouraged; however, behavior that embarrasses or ridicules opposing teams will result in removal from the park.
Violations of these rules will result in penalties determined by the Committee and may include removal of parents and/or players from Recreation Department activities. Players may also be removed from the program due to rule violations by their parents or guardians.
Fundraising
Fundraising is an important part of the youth baseball program and helps support league operations, field maintenance, capital improvements, and All-Star participation.
Families and players will be asked to assist with fundraising efforts throughout the year, and their cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Photo Permission
The Morgan City Recreation Department utilizes participant photos to publicize the activities of each sport and the accomplishments of its participants. If you do not wish for your child to be pictured in any media (website, Facebook, newspaper, etc.) send a signed and dated letter advising of your wishes that will be placed on file in the office.
By NOT sending a letter, you are granting the Morgan City Recreation Department the right to publish and print your child’s name and/or likeness on the MCRD website on the internet and/or the world wide web and further, release, indemnify and hold harmless the Morgan City Recreation Department, and its employees from any and all claims and /or damages on behalf of yourselves and your child arising from the publication of your child’s name, photograph or likeness used by the Recreation Department. This agreement shall remain in force and in effect at all times.
